Assynt is on the list!
I must had been looking at the wrong list, I was using one not far up, I assumed was the original list.

I'll rise to the bait ... :)

I would have you know, sir, that the late Cris Ebbs' publication Caves of North Wales has descriptions of some 275 caves, some of which are not muddy at all! (Some might have seaweed in them though.)

Ogof Llyn Parc contains more than 4 km of passage and has a fine streamway. Admittedly, access is non-trivial as it involves a 92 m mine shaft, plus two further 18 m shafts before the cave is reached, but I think we can safely ignore that for the purpose of this discussion.
Yeh, I must admit I forgot about Ogof Llyn parc, am keen to go down there. Yes I was being a bit flippant I am aware there are more caves than just the other 2 that are known about.

That's a fine resource you have linked so thank you!

proper caving in Mendip
A rarely seen arrangement of words.
I can't really rate regions objectively. It's all down to circumstance really:

1: Fermanagh, for proximity.
2: Peak District, nice and easy to access everything around castleton and the Peak/Speedwell system is tons of fun. Plenty of other caves dotted around too.
3: South Wales pretty much exclusively due to OFD being one of my formative caving memories.
4: Yorkshire. Great caves, haven't really explored many of them.
5: Mendip. My first cave there was eastwater cavern which may have influenced my opinion on the region.
