On this (excellent) forum we can all get along discussing our caves... but when a post comes up such as this, it can cause big and everlasting divisions, which is sad....

No, it doesn't cause the divisions, it only puts the spotlight on them, for which we should be grateful.

There is a good parody site here: https://www.facebook.com/britianfirst?fref=ts.

However, I wonder if they are accidentally spreading more hate, as judging by the comments, there are some gullible people that believe that some of the ludicrous stories are true. I suppose it highlights how some people can be easily brainwashed to share those sort of views.

I was not going to get involved in this thread and I am certainly not going to get involved in politics which does not belong on this website. However:

Its an old adage that aften if something is ignored it goes away. Extremism of right or left has always been around in this country and has never got anywhere.

I remember years ago when the National Front held a march, if there was only 30 of them you could bet your gold plated Petzl Stop that hundreds would turn out to counter demonstrate thus gaining for the NF publicity that they would not otherwise have obtained.

Looking at it slightly differently, isn't there a web expression about "feeding trolls"

Something to think about.

It's an interesting viewpoint. The OP was kind of suggesting a form of ignoring it, by warning against Facebook Likes. He also used the word "cancer". I suggest that ignoring the early signs of cancer is not a wise thing to do.

Indeed. One can ignore organisations like that, or one can try to understand and deal with why people come to think and behave like that.

The increasing popularity of such organisations should be a cause of concern perhaps.

Chris.

Agreed but a cancer does not contain the seeds of its own destruction, cancers grow, extremist organisations do not. At least not in this country.

Why feed them?
