Hello everyone!

We try to redraw the rulebook and the judging regulations and guidelines for Cartography Section at the Romanian National Congress of Speleology.

Are there some public guidelines as far as u know (in UK, in other countries) that can be used for inspiration? Are they here some experienced people that can help with some documents for using as models guide to create some new and actual rules for participants and jury at the cartography contest?

Thank you for all the answers and advices!

Currently the only guidelines are categories, which define small and large, traditional survey. Small is any area that is A3 or smaller. (Can be longer but thinner than A3). Large is anything else, including book type surveys.

There is another category that allowes anything that is not a traditional survey, which allows models, computer graphics. We reserve the right not to award.

Although we have discussed criteria, generally we have tried to avoid them, information on surveys charge depending on its purpose, a survey for cavers is different from a survey designed for show cave visitors. Setting criteria could force a style that is not suitable for the purpose. Personally I would be worried that criteria might also stifle invocation, which is something the cave surveying group is trying to encourage.
