I had looked at these in my long continuing search for a suitable underground camera.
My current camera is a rugged-Casio and has served me well, if the EX-G1 is anything like mine it should last.
From what I could gather (there wasn't loads of info to look at as it hadn't been available for long when I last looked) it has a "night mode" which gives a shutter speed up to 4 seconds - enough for firing a flash manually. For triggering slaves I'd hazard a guess you would need Firefly3 or similar as is the case with most cameras of this type these days.
Other than that I don't know (I'm not technically minded!), depends if you want some manual control (which this model doesn't appear to have) or just a rugged point-and-shoot camera..
