I think "dishonesty" is a bit harsh - we have no idea what is being researched....and if research had been mentioned in the first post I imagine the thread would have progressed in a similar way.

Same theme, slightly different angle. When underground as a (small) group, if you enter a 'new' area you've never been to before, do you:
* explore all potential passages as a group.
* split into twos/threes and explore passages to see which potentially 'go' and which are blind around the next corner.
* split up individually to go solo and see which passages 'go' and which are blind

I figure I have enough experience behind me to take it on but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to the less experienced.Those who are going to solo-cave still will, but I don't want it to be seen as an acceptable norm as there are often less experienced people reading this forum who might not realise the potential dangers of such an activity.
