My old copy of Barrington and Stanton has some advertisements for businesses of long ago. Casswells of Midsomer Norton, The Bivouac of Matlock Bath, Ellis Brigham - I think we've had that one, and Clam Products of Liversedge.

You got measured and she cut out a pattern for you and you bought the neoprene, glue and tape etc. Originally I bought thin unlined neoprene but progressed to thinker lined neoprene which after you made your suit could be returned to her for stitching.
My firs thin version did not even survive one trip down Simpsons. I tried to tape it up the next day by wrapping masking tape round the torn bits.
My fried manage to cut out one leg one way and three legs the other so he had one leg with half the neoprene inside out. Happy days!
Note - the photos is me after Simpsons. I certainly dont look like that anymore
No idea if they're open at moment, but I think they were shut down for a while & then opened again last summer.Pitlamp said:I don't remember it reopening it Mike. When I went past it recently it didn't look open. Could be wrong though, as I wasn't really paying attention to it. I'll look next time I'm in Horton.

That was 4th & final edition (1977), it also included Caving Supplies & Rocksport. 2nd (1972) had Bryant's, Colston St, Bristol (which had become Blacks [of Greenock] by 1977); The Boat Shop and Outdoor Life, The Boulevard, WsM & 2 ads for Aquaquipment wetsuits of St Albans!chriscastle46 said:My old copy of Barrington and Stanton has some advertisements for businesses of long ago.
