There is no doubt that the 'stream' in CHWFS goes to Cheddar (where else could it go?) but it is not going to be an inlet into Upper Flood.

So, yes, it could form an inlet into the Upper Flood system somewhere distantly downstream of the currenlty known cave.

Is that a "U" turn I see, Mr Sparrow?

Well, not really.  It all depends on where the streamway of Upper Flood loses its separate identity to become a combined conduit with other major sinks like Manor Farm.  I suspect that this will have happened before CHWFS enters the system.

Having seen the survey of UF, I would have to disagree strongly with that last statement

I think we may be forgetting just how far away CWFS actually is - about 1.5 kilometres from the new end of UF according to the initial survey published by MCG (which puts it under the Charterhouse rakes).

Jumping in... having been on the breakthrough into the new Flood stuff, the new passage is as big as anything in Manor Farm and 1.5km doesnt seem so far now that we found just under 600m of yomping passage in one trip. .....

Also,
two inlets have joined the new Upper Flood Swallet.

Their origins are as yet unknown but they enter from CHWFS side,
as  minute trickles. :D

Also too add too that we have found only another 600 metres yesterday!

We are very near too CHWFS!  Also we have made the cave longert than the current length of GB! :tease: (y)

... so my comment that you might end up with one of the longest caves on Mendip wasn't such a wild suggestion after all?....

Still a long way to go from 1.2km to 9km, but...

...at 600m per fortnight it might not be too long.  ;) ;)

Also we have made the cave longer than the current length of GB!

The pendant says the cave was always that long, but the length of explored passage now exceeds the known length of GB. I'm just jealous, and it's Monday. :(

It is looking more likely now that Charterhouse Warren Farm Swallet very well might drain into
Upper Flood Swallet :alien:

or might do if it had an active stream. ;)

How often does Mendip have a "1968" type event? :-\

Surely, we should be about due another.

At the time it was estimated to be at least a 100 year return on a storm that size.

So does that mean it's going to rain quite heavily in 2068? Or will there be a time-slip and we'll just re-experience 1968 but it'll be on a different day of the week?

I'll get me coat.
