The entrance to Coal Hole (a rarely-visited, more sporting route into Short Drop Cave on Leck Fell) has collapsed.
Our Chair, Andrew Hinde has managed to open it up enough to enable cautious access again, but lots of slumped spoil from the shakehole still needs to be removed, and perhaps some preventative work done to minimise further collapse.

We're keen to see if anyone fancies taking this on as a relatively simple cleanup project - Please contact our Conservation Officer. Obviously, if nobody comes forward and the situation deteriorates further, we can explore running this as a CNCC initiative in the future. But for now, we're keen to throw this one open to all.
