Rumbling Hole fence repair

Rumbling fence Andrew Hinde edited.jpg

At the end of March, we received a note via our website reporting form that a fencepost had come down surrounding Rumbling Hole, leaving the hole open to sheep.

It was actually back in 1995 that CNCC arranged the fencing of all of the major open pots on Leck Fell, and since then it has been a matter of ongoing maintainance. On this occasion, one of our volunteers, Andrew Hinde, was quick to respond to replace the post. Only a small job, but a proactive reponse. Thanks Andrew!

Most importantly, this is a great opportunity to remind everyone of the various reporting functions via our website:

You can report:
  • Conservation issues - In, around and on the approach to caves
  • Safety warnings - Recent rockfalls, movement or other new or emerging hazards
  • Topo errors - Missing an anchor? One too many? Incorrectly drawn? Wrong rope length?
  • Defective anchors - Any showing damage, movement or any other concerns?
  • Description errors - Omissions, mistakes or confusing wording
  • Cave info errors - Grid reference or access details
As you can see above, we do listen and try to reply to all reports, and we really appreciate your help in being our eyes and ears across our region. If you don't get a reply within 2-3 weeks then please do follow up with our PR/Comms Officer by email (contact details on our website).
