Some of youmay be aware of this event which was posted in the CSCC subforum - https://ukcaving.com/board/index.ph...aturday-12th-november-2022.29932/#post-365449

The event has been set up to try and garner a wide set of views on two topics, namely how CSCC can potentially better represent those who are not members of CSCC constituent clubs, and to discuss potential future CSCC access policy. The event is being held at the MCG Cottage and is open to anyone who has an opinion, lunch will be provided. With under two weeks to go I have a grand total of one person confirm that they will be attending. Unless I get further confirmations in the next few days it looks like the event will be cancelled. You can contact me via the email address in the link, or PM on here.

All the best,
Ed

Ed, sorry to read that engagement is poor for your event. I did read some related stats on this issue which you may find of interest. In the CNCC webmasters report to the last meeting it gives some figures for use of the online booking system for the many caves of Leck, Casterton and Ingleborough. I noted that 20% (182 bookings) made a POSITIVE statement to say they were NOT BCA members. Only 69% (632 bookings) said they were members of a club.

It certainly shows that there is significant caving outside of the club scene. Maybe it is similar in CSCC area.
Cheers

The classic issue of engaging the unengaged... Better to make the offer and not have it taken up than the reverse though, so I salute you.

Possibly there is also the issue that a lot of the cavers who are not members of CSCC clubs are also not local to the Mendips and therefore less likely to drive a long way to a meeting.

To be honest sometimes I think not having that many people turning up to moan about something is actually a bit of a silent vote of confidence...

As only four people indicated to me that they wished to attend, I have decided that the workshop is not worthwhile. As such I have cancelled it due to lack of interest.
