TBH most of the team are a bit lost with it too, it's turned into quite a big project.

Currently on the cards is a "system" survey project which we hope would help the casual reader as well as future cavers. Although i'm not sure i have the appetite starting for that quite yet. Too much to just walk into!

Thanks for the update - I wouldn't mind seeing an overview (just a sketch if necessary) of what's now been explored in the Eyam/Stoney Middleton area and how all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together,  showing the positions of XXXXXXX XXXX, Glebe Mine, Doom, WW, Cussey, Nicker Grove, Merlin, Carlswark & the Master Cave. Please, pretty please.

There is something oddly symbolic about the fact that one of the biggest discoveries in this seemingly endless pandemic era has been at Eyam.

Which of team foursome do you think is Emmott, and which one is Roland?

Awkward sketch from a bystander with only already published info here.

Clearly half-fudged up - would welcome and encourage a better version. XXXXXXX XXXX shown with helpful question mark. Very clearly not even 75% accurate. A better version would be awesome!

Thanks for that. Are we talking about the same XXXXXXX XXXX? I thought it was more to the north to give the draught in Cussey.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that the key to the Master Cave is White Rake and the drainage along it. It looks as though the collapse at the north end of Nicker Grove heads towards White Rake.

Yes. And to be honest, I don't know I'm afraid.

This piece is useful and gives more links to interesting pieces at the end. Check out the Mercian 2015 "Old mines and new sinkholes
along the Hucklow Edge vein, Derbyshire". Good read, good photos and maps.

The Trevor Ford PDMHS Bulletin paper (18:3) on the area, listed in the references, is also very useful.

The collapse at the north end of Nicker Grove was passed years ago, to a continuing oak boarded level, which ended at a forefield, just before it reached White Rake, a small chamber at the end has a tiny hopeless looking dig in the roof.

I haven't had chance to check the relative locations on surface, but do any of the Cussey passages potentially link up with John Beck's White Rake dig that was written up in TSG 19?

Looks about 130m horizontal distance and 15m vertical from just below movie room area in cussey to the NW end of white rake. (Back of a fag packet maths there though).

I think you mean the NE end of White Rake. Again it would be good to have a new map of the area north of the Merlin & Carlswark sumps showing the relative positions of Cussey, Doom, WW, the Master cave, White Rake, etc. If you like the rectangle bounded by Waterfall and Nicker Grove to the west, Glebe Mine to the east, Great Hucklow Vein to the north and the Merlins sumps to the south.
