Custom Duo

Custom Duo Omni v2 arrived yesterday. Fitting was very easy and almost blinded myself when I accidentally switched it to the high spot and flood mode.

Looking forward to trying it out somewhere soon!

I love mine - very impressed in the manufacturing quality - some of the other Duo mods on the market are absolutely laughable in terms of build.

Be advised, though, it absolutely ****ing rinses batteries. I've tried Lithiums, Alkaline, Rechargeables the lot!

Strange, I get about 9 hours on high (not full) power before it drops me to a medium setting.  This is with 2000mAh Sanyo Eneloops (NiMH).

I plumped for an Omni V2 in the end, after asking the relevent questions on here.

Thanks to everyone for your very useful replies . Particular thanks go to Potholer for all the info he gave on lights and batteries/charging . I feel a little bad that I ended up buying from someone else. Sorry!

The reasons I went with the Custom Duo were that it's simple in operation and does look more professionally made than the Bisun product.

I agree that fitting was very easy. I bought a brand new 5 LED Duo from Wiggle for ?56.00.

The Omni produces enough light to light up large passages and chambers very well.

I haven't done a duration test, just used it at a mix of power settings on the same trip, only flattening the batteries over a couple of uses. My 'feeling' is that duration is less than I hoped but I could be completely wrong about that! Maybe the brand new eneloops I've got haven't had enough cycles to reach their full capacity yet.

I have recommended the V2 to friends and still swear by it, even with the way it likes to use a set of batteries. As an engineer myself build quality was a major factor for consideration and something that should be valued given its intended use.

Certainly, for ~?70 I don't think much comes close, not with that build quality.
