Democratic dig!

Hi all.
A while ago I put a post on here asking about a cave I didnt know the name of.
I now have figured it out ( dropped my peak guide book and it opened on the page, a glance at the picture and the light flicked on)

So I noticed that it has been gated recently,  I believe it is OCC that were/ still are digging it.

Whats it like now in terms of extensions length ect.
The guide book has 33m long and 12.3m deep.

The dimensions are still about right.

The cave is still dug intermittently by Orpheus members - I dont think anyone can face spending all their freetime there any more.

The gate was put on at the request of the landowner.

Cavefinder can tell you all about the place - he seems to like it!

It is still an OCC dig but it's fairly impossible during the winter because the mud becomes sloppily wet and needs bailing rather than digging and the water/mud also backs up.  It will be back in action again during the summer I've no doubt.

Hi , We were down there a couple of months ago and decided to dig straight down at the bottom of the dig where it goes into the side passage We dug down a couple of feet and found the floor that on further digging following the floor it down dipped towards the and into the side passage. We dug along for about 6ft and down about 3ft before we decided to leave it until the better weather as we need to start hauling the spoil out. The chamber at the end of the bottom passage looks like it is definitely an inlet so that means that somewhere along the passage is where it drains into. But as Jenny says it gets very like a poo mine when wet. But you are welcome to have a poke.
Cheers Mick
