The Xmas period and dark evenings are a perfect time for visiting places you aren't supposed to be.

Just out of idle interest, why was he caving on Christmas Day of all days? I'm a keen enough caver, and have often caved on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, but if I suggested Christmas Day I'm sure none of my mates would come; not to mention the conflagration it might cause with family.

How many people here have gone, or would go caving on Christmas Day?
I suppose this boils down to circumstances: having a family I never get to cave on Christmas or Easter, but I usually get a couple of days underground late in Dec as long as I'm home for New Years.

Gavin, being single was up at Bull Pot Farm with 5 or 6 others so was able to get underground.

Good on you Peter. My question was never meant as a criticism (though some people obviously took it that way), I was just curious. After all, to many people, Muslims, Jehovahs Witnesses, Atheists, NHS workers, Christmas Day is much like any other. I always try to get out for part of the day, and once spent Christmas Day climbing a volcano in Indonesia. That was quite memorable, though not I suspect as memorable as Christmas Day 2006 will be for you.

Glad you're on the mend.

Just reread the previous post and now see that it was Gavin who was injured, so get well soon.
Make note to self, "don't read forum when knackered".

Gavin? Oxford Uni? Putting 2 and 2 together, would his last initial be L? If so, hope he makes a good recovery.
