End of Lathkill head cave

Im trying to get my head around the present end/choke of Lathkill head cave.

so...

Upper entrance>
Waiting room>
Lathkiller hall>
Lathkiller passage>
Tiger four (The Emporium, Hope show, Electric crab)>
Tiger Five (Northern lights, Black rock sands, Dream Time/Garden path entrance)>
Tiger six>
Mud Bank chamber>
(Rolling thunder) Tiger seven>

From what i've read that seems to be the last record I've found from a DCA newsletter around the time of the Garden path entrace.

I've been told that Ben continued to push Lathkill head until he reached Tiger 10? Where it eventually became VERY HAIRY indeed!?

Can anyone shed any light on the current end of Lathkill head (conditions, type of passage)? Any references to Descent/DCA newsletters or even a survey?

Thanks.

I can tell you that you won't get anywhere near the end at the moment!

From Tiger seven, it's pretty much flat out in a very wide and just too low passage. Not sure about the fact that it runs to Tiger 10.

I wasn't there when Ben was doing the final pushing but I am familiar with it up to a point about 100m or so from the current termination. It's not a very pleasant place, but draughts very powerfully.

We really need prolonged drought conditions for any further progress in LHC and LCDC but the potential is certainly there.

Cheers Moose.

Cant remember who it was who I was talking to with regard to Tiger 10 but it was in a public house.

Heres to a good summer.

Now this system sounds interesting. Moose, when you say it's not a pleasant place to be, in what way do you mean (dangerous, wet, muddy or all three + some) ?

It's a sustained flat out battle and I suppose if you were to just visit it for a 'tourist' trip it wouldn't actually be that hard now that there's multiple entrances. The problem comes when you're pushing it, difficult to carry all the necessary tools for the job (it's a drilling and blasting affair from what I can remember). Not loose or stupidly tight but certainly flood prone.

Maybe I'm getting old but even 15 years ago it wasn't something that I actually looked forward to. Bit like a visit to the end of Critchlow (perhaps the most arduous trip in the county) you wouldn't want to do it two days on the trot unless you were madder than mad Ben?

Speaking of which, if there's a drought can someone please connect Dawkes Crawl in Lathkill Head Cave to the corresponding passage in Lower Cales Dale Cave then we can 'warm up' by doing a trip from Ricklow to LCDC...... A connoisseur's trip that's for sure....

It's all coming flooding back to me!

If this frost Carry's on we much longer it will be dryer down the Lathkill caves than it has ever been in the middle of any summer! i would imagine it would be pretty dry now!

waterfall hole is still running, so it cant be that cold.

Besides - its raining outside my house now and the snow melting on the roof is making a right racket dripping onto my bay top.
Reckon the (not so) big freeze is over.  :(
