Not sure I remember the skellingtons and the gold 'n' stuff but it was mostly how you said.  8)

Oh, and the Indiana rolling boulder of doom? Was that the big, house sized slabs of slate, waiting to crush the very life from your bones in the Chamber of Horrors?

Walking the planks/rickity bridges like...this? (old Model T frames laid across river crossings in Click's Cave, IN)

There are commercial underground ones in NZ, but of course they dont count as they are in the wrong hemisphere  ;)
Certainly the one on the CRTT is really good fun if you have a steel pulley...

The above is proof that people never look through the thread before adding to the bottom... Black Water Rafting built a zip line for the BWR 2 trip which started not long after my father an I built a damn in Ruakuri cave in 1988.

In the late 1990s or early 00s Waitomo Adventures built a zip line across the Cathedral in St. Benedicts Caverns to protect the formations

These are Jumar ascenders, named after the Swiss company that made them originally back in the 50's and 60's started by Adolph Juesi and Walter Marti.

These days people use the term Jumaring to mean ascending rope(s) with similar devices, like the Petzl Ascension.

....wowwwww I have friends in NZ and Australia...been wanting to visit...but that's more expensive than trying to get to UK even.

And ah right, those are what the Jumars are. My understanding is they aren't liked because they are so sharp they shred up the rope while ascending I've heard of people not letting you use them on their ropes.

I am told by a friend who recently gave me the one he's just stopped using they are not as robust as modern day ascenders and can develop hairline fractures if dropped even just a few feet...

I Loved my jumars (correctly pronounced yoomar)  in the early 80s.  My dad brought them back from a business trip to Switzerland.  It was a  sad day when the one I used in my hand jammer was deemed to be worn out.  Saying that tho... it was just worn out on 12mm rope so worked well on 10mm or less; perhaps I should start using them again one day.

The big question is... have you ever seen or used a whaletail?  if you want a modern version of the jumar that does not have fracture issues then check out SRTE from Oz at http://www.srte.com.au/ascenders.htm  I think they even still do whaletails and their double rope version of the Petzl Plummet is amazing
