This reminds me of some work I did producing a grid of levels across a field that was going to be built on, bordered on one side by a stream. I produced a lovely plan not only with the level grid but also with the contours marked.
The architect sent it back insisting it must be wrong since 'water finds its own level' and the level of the steam was higher at one end than the other, I pointed out that it was quite a fast flowing stream and must therefore be heading downhill but he refused to accept this even when I pointed out there was a weir halfway along!
