Flooding forecast Tues/wed

Yes,
If you look at the yellow blobs on
https://www.gaugemap.co.uk/#!Map
you can see that so far the rainfall hasn't been exceptional...

(similar data on https://riverlevels.uk/ , and a slew of slightly lesser sites abstracting environment agency data to make maps, eg the gov.uk one).

Depends what happens next...

Of course - the media do love exaggerating these things it seems.

'News' is big business these days and anything to keep the script writers of the 24h news channels busy.

Coupled with a litigious society, where someone has to be seen to be blamed, even for the weather, the forecasters don't want to risk being accused of 'not warning us'

Not that anyone can actually do much about it when it happens.

24 hours up to 7am, there was 100mm in North Wales & 50mm in East Cumbria, so could easily have reached Dales...

You may mean "Hull" Pot? That's the really big one that overflows in extreme conditions.

Hunt Pot would be interesting in this weather...
Brain(s)-rot setting in from lockdown... Yes I meant Hull, but Hunt would also be impressive

...and it's still raining hard.

Noticed yesterday on the Radar that Wales seemed to be copping for it, and looked set to continue that way.  Good paddling conditions arriving I reckon.

Another 30mm up to midday, most rivers will be too high (& access roads likely to be flooded), especially as they did still have snow

2 of my 3 routes to work are flooded, and the third had some sizeable soggy spots on the way home at 14:30. Lots more local flooding, some of it pretty serious. Gonna be an interesting few days.

Still raining lots in the Peak tonight, I've been to Buxton Morrisons for the weekly shop and the A6 in Ashwood Dale is closed (which I was expecting) and the A515 has some large puddles in places. I hear Bakewell is having problems too.

Our local rivers in Shropshire have just reached their second highest recorded level (only a couple of centimetres below the maximum). And we're not in one of the highest risk areas....

I popped down to Sheffield city centre at teatime, and the River Sheaf coming out of the bottom end of the Megatron tunnel was bulging upwards from the force of the Don hitting it at 90? - it was quite a sight. Thankfully the river walls we worked on years ago seem to be holding up, but there's one that was never fixed that really worries me, and I'm going to pop down in the morning and see if it's still standing. Well the road will be underwater if it isn't, so I should know before I get there.

48 hour total at Clapham in the Dales is 69 mm. It's come fairly steadily, so an average of only 1.44 mm per hour. Reckon we've got off lightly this time. Not so far away from here some folk are having a bad time I'm afraid.

R.Dee in Llangollen is highest some of my friends have seen it. Fortunately the town is well above river level, but other places can't be getting away so lightly.

My dads cottage in Corwen overlooks the dee valley - but from high up on the berwyns luckily.  The fields below are often completely flooded.  Be interesting to see what its like at the moment then.

Just been to Clapham shop; the beck going through the village is high but not especially high.

Live weather forecast from Ingleton - woken by hail on the windows during the night, blizzards, gales, rain this morning.  My rain gauge is to check the small stream that runs down the field opposite - if it's full, there been a lot of rain  ;)  Despite the horrid conditions, the stream's not that high, however I'm still not going outside until Summer....
