I would respectfully suggest that national security is a prerequisite to all the above.
There are bad people out there, whether or not we like it and it is precisely the safety and security offered by this country that allows everything else to thrive.
In an ideal world, we would not need an armed forces, or nuclear deterrents, but we do not live in an ideal world.
