found on the road between ingleton and Marten Arms (Very unfriendly and no longer worth visiting). Let me know make colour etc. and I'll get it back to you.

Bit posh to be a cavers but I thought I may as well try on here.

It's gone anal. They wouldn't let us sit down with our drinks. Told us they were more of a restaurant than a pub! dunno if managements changed or what. I'll not be visiting again anyway.

What;'s gone wrong with the Marten Arms then?
The Martian went downhill a long while back.. Its quite obviously geared towards food and not drink..
Went in not so long ago and most tables had reserved stuck on them - we ignored it and sat down anyway as the reserved time was much later on. Nobody said anything but we noticed staff looking over at us every once in a while.. I don't mind taking my business elsewhere - and it'll be cheaper!

Dive bombed when it got rid of the Pool table, I used to have so much luck on that table, won me a fortune!

It used to be owned by one guy who ran it himself, but about 4 years ago he sold it to a chain. They've kept it looking like an independant pub, but it's gone 'posh'. Only well to do tourists allowed now, not scabby locals.

I knew it had gone downhill, but just didn't realise how far downhill! I've never had anyone seriously reccommend i stand up in an empty pub where the tables are reserved for an hour and a half away- waiter was bloody rude too.

Maybe we should get the cavers of the world to unite there one saturday evening, buy a pint of water and stand around being obnoxiously loud and caveresque for the evening just to piss them off?

Yes, i am a vengeful man.

Hasn't the New Inn in Clapham just been sold to a chain?

Went to Ingleton for something to eat and a few pints on Monday. Never the best of nights but the Craven Heifer and Mason's were closed and only the Wheatsheaf was doing food. The meals were poor and in my opinion the Cains bitter even worse (you can have any bitter as long as its Cains), it has changed hands! Driven out by the beer we went to the Three Horse Shoes, only folk in and not really to be recommended.

In desperation to the Marton's, door was wide open and lights on but was told that they had stopped selling beer - it was 10.20pm!!!!! This is the same outfit that has recently taken over the New Inn at Clapham, although currently with the same manager and unchanged, but it does not bode well.

I live locally and have miss spent my youth in Ingleton hostelries and was shocked by my experiences on Monday night although I have seen it coming.

Sad really. I remember many enjoyable nights in the Craven Heifer and Marton Arms.

There's only the Helwith Bridge left as a decent cavers pub in the Dales.
