Just a quick mention that at the weekend myself and a small band of intrepid muppets thought that we would go down Gale Garth Pot on Casterton Fell. But the unstable left wall just before Octopus chamber has run in a bit. I looked at moving past the run in but the second I touched a cobble the whole left wall slid in a bit more :shock: and I retreated very quickly.
This area of the cave is now highly unstable and I would warn anyone not to enter this area until this wall has been shored up.

if nobody entered this area until it had been shored up... surely nobody shoudl enter the are in order to do the work?

That's a fair point Cave Troll. As it is the passage is small and constricted and I'm not sure how you would go about shoring the wall up. The other option is to keep pulling cobbles and mud out until no more falls in, but there is a lot there and no place to put the stuff pulled out.
