In an ideal world I'd go and try a load on, but I'm quite a distance from the nearest caving shop, I'd really like to get some kit together to practice before I go on another trip.

The singing river one is substantially cheaper than the others and enough people seem to like it well enough for me to give it a go. Unfortunately things really are tight at the moment  :cautious: so if I decide not to go for that one it will probably mean postponing the whole idea for a bit.

I'm also unlikely to be going on trips where a wetsuit (indeed I don't own one) is necessary so possibly I'll not be adjusting the straps often?

The metal rings to clip the d into are better than the fabric loops!

Better to clip into, yes. But the whole construction weighs more.

Francis

it may weigh more yes but its helpfuller because it has the easy clip into rings on it dor the d and also helpful because you will be able to get it on quicker especially if you leave it at the bottom of a pitch and half to put it on again on the way out!

Argument against the metal rings (and maybe against too thick and too "easy use"-looking buckles) every additional piece of metal gives additional bruises (been there, done that  :cautious:) and you are easier stuck in a squeeze with more metal parts wedged together (also been there, done that  o_O).

ttxela  - if things are tight  :(, and money is your primary consideration - then the Digger is the one for you. Enough people on here who know their onions have got one and are happy enough with them.

Singing rock digger seems like  a compromise all round. Do you really need to adjust it once its set (i.e. still brand new). I have never once adjusted my harness buckles since I first set them. Seems to suffer the same high D position.

I have never adjusted mine since I set it, so I agree with Sam that it isn't a problem. The D ring is a little high for me as well, but it may be because of my body shape and size.

The only small niggle I have with my singing rock, is because the back crosses over it takes me ages to work out how to put it on!!
