Ok that got your attention.

Hurricane 735 lumen caving light.

Being Yorkshire born, I didnt rush out and buy the latest scurion, or viper or anything that cost anything over ?250 for that matter.
What I have just bought, and im very pleased with as I feel it offers value for money, flexibility and its made in the uk, is a "Hurricane".

Customer support is based on mendip, but travels to Yorkshire fairly regularly.
Secondly it is interchangable with the original batteries from  "the little monkey"

And no, im not on comission for this light, im just seriously chuffed to bits with it. :D

And at first glance it could even be mistaken for a Scurion  :tease:

?239 inc charger, which is cheaper than a Scurion.

Good point, must be the dual led thing.
For me (because Chris has one) I thought it looked like a viper at first glance.
I guess Biff has  taken the good bits from both and combined it in a far more cost effective package.

I didn't go anywhere near the Little Monkey purely because it has no spot function. This one is therefore at least slightly interesting.

Do you have any more info regarding the "4 sensible power settings"? Quite an important feature if using the light for photography...

Also, what angle is the spot beam?

Have to say i do like the fact it could be ran on a PP9 battery as an absolute backup.

I think this is exactly what I've been waiting for and in a moment of madness, I've just bought one ... I'll report back when it arrives.

Also worth noting is that the Little Monkey is now running at a bargain price that makes it a (to my mind, and I've used one a fair bit) *particularly* good deal.

The CustomDuo site is well worth a scan at the moment... lots of exciting new goodies on there!

Has anyone received one of these lights yet? Seriously considering splashing out when the paycheck arrives at end of month.
Anyone know if the two LEDs can be operated independantly?

It would be fair to say that nobody has one as yet. The first batch is on the bench, almost finished, waiting for a batch of one particular component to arrive. I would generally have waited until I had built stock before putting the lamp out, but Hidden Earth a few weeks ago and it seemed an ideal opportunity to launch.

The Hurricane has 4 power settings. I wanted to keep it nice and simple, keep the size and weight right down, and the cost hopefully sensible. Each setting is a mix of the two LEDs, one to give a proper full flood and the other providing smooth distant throw. The settings from low to high have approx durations of 1 week*, 2 days, ? day, 3 hours (*every time I set about checking this I seem to forget when I started the ruddy test  o_O).

Oh go on then, give me a free lamp then; I'll test it for you. Sigh... :)

Aye, though it's been tested (twice) not got round to a write up. Promise by the end of the week!

Yea the little monkey is a great product, I am very pleased with mine, if the same quality/prformance and price structure has been carried forward onto the Hurricane it will be fantastic. I also have to say although I am in not way connected to Biff and have never met him, but in my communications with him he comes across as a very genuine guy and I hope his lights become the caving standard going forward
