Never been to S. Wales before, but we are planning a trip down there soonish to go mountain biking, i was wondering if any clubs with huts down there are nice enough to let about 8 to 10 bikers stay?

Not too different to cavers, still get covered in sh1t, but less facial hair in general.

As i said, got no idea where any huts are, or where pubs are in relation to them so any info would be useful!

Somewhere near Cwn Carn/ Afan.

Thanks.

South Wales CC, Chelsea SS, Westminster SG, Croydon CC

All have websites with accommodation details.

Don't know which one would be best for you - they're all pretty much spread out all over the place.

TT, if you're a caver who has never been to S. Wales before ditch your mountain bike and go caving! It's got a couple of OK-ish caves; check out Ogof Ffynnon Ddu or perhaps visit something small like Agen Allwedd instead.

Never heard of 'em.

Was thinking of doing some mountain biking down there once and I think CSS was closest to Cwm Carn, with the others closer to Afan.

Never heard of 'em.
Just shows how rubbish they must be then!

Cheers all, going to SWCC hut for some biking this weekend. The weathers gonna be too nice to go underground! Anyone else heading there? Bring a bike and we'll take you round afan, then if you've got an OFD permit...

Actually the plural of Ogof is Ogofau....oooh!

Does that mean that a Welsh Caver is a Cymru Ogofer and Welsh Cavers are Cymru Ogofauers?

Probably not.

Try Ogofwr Cymraeg (for one), Ogofwyr Cymraeg (many of us!)

Cheers to SWCC for letting us stay, had a tremendous weekend (even though it took us 45 minuites to find the place!).

Spent both days at afan, riding the wall, whites level and the skyline- all mint trails. My little fingers were feeling quite battered by the end of sunday but i guess its good practice for the summer (current plan to do the megavalanche on a hardtail :( :!:  ).

Will have to go caving next time i'm down that way though. Too sunny last weekend to be underground  .
