Intake Dale Mine Update

Well done gang. The engine shaft top is more or less in the floor of the dale, as the gin circle platform is cut into the bedrock above it - a very nice feature. I do wonder if any soughs had a (unknown) branch to here, at the bottom of the shaft?

Also don't forget if you walk along the rake eastwards (past the entrance and up the slope) there's what appears to be a climbing shaft under a big white slab near the ruined coe. It may just drop into the bits we already know, but equally it may not ;)

It's hard sticking to 5 word trip reports, but it does save a lot of time for everyone trying to keep up...

For those more interested, have a gander here:

Quite a few developments down IDM recently, including dropping into some more natural and taking the survey over 500m long.  (y)

Well done guys Ben would be very proud of your efforts.
When we looked at it Ben thought the choke was to unsafe and that was from a guy that loved digging through them.

To be fair Ben was quite right, although he was probably talking about the choke at the bottom. We had a go at that in 2016 and we managed to make some ground to find "Brexit Rift", but going in any further was going to be tricky.

Then in 2019 we changed our tack and had a go at the choke much higher up at a really obscure place i doubt they ever got to. Whilst the choke here was indeed very dodgy the draught was strong so we thought it was worth a go. Luckily it was a very short affair and only 4m was dug before we got to the other side. I only got squashed once so can't have been that bad....

Is the latest update on the Eldon Website unfinished? Doesn't read as a complete report. I was hoping to read more about the open lead at the bottom.
