Yep; had a 2A for several years. It's still in the caving commnity and is in its 60th birthday year.

Compulsory expatriation. You just got told in those days. You went. That time we got married 4 days before leaving to get a visa.
I don’t, after changing some on a Series II. Which sums up my manhood for sure. It memorably broke down on the Santander ferry ramp. The Series 3 I cunningly gifted to my mother who I think swapped it for some lucky charms or some such thing.
Eventually you grow up and buy a Landcruiser. Possibly a Hilux. I have never had to mend a Toyota in 30 years, my own or at work.

Reluctantly agree that Landcruisers have it over Landrovers (this feels like treachery). So did Pathfinders ( I don't know about the latest iteration which may have gone soft but the last generation were very good). Both are better on road than Landrovers or Jeeps, nearly as good/just as good off road, much more reliable and greater availability of spares in remote places.

I’m a big fan of the 3.0 litre Nissan patrol. I pulled a 7.5 tonne horse box uphill with no problem. Its a shame they faded them out, I’d have bought another one
