It must be useful for something...

At the car boot sale yesterday morning, I found myself parting company with five whole English pounds, and walking away with this magnificent stainless steel pipe flange (carabiner for scale)

It must be useful for something, I told myself.

My wife, on the other hand, thinks that our kids will be taking into the car boot sale in 50 years after we're dead!

So far, I've thought of a belay for a dive-line at a 20-branch junction, or an anchor plate for an excessively complex hauling rig.

Help me prove my wife wrong and let me know what else this 20kg paperweight could be usefull for? Sensible and not-so-sensible suggestions welcome. :)

Add three (or four, five,...) rods and bolts to it and make a coffee table out of with a glass / plexi plate on it. If you use plexi you can bolt the plexi between the top bolt and the flange.

Mounting plate for stream passage / valley entrance / wretched / anquamole entrance lid. Plenty of holes to make it secure 😉

Have you ever tried to throw a 20kg frisbee? More to the point, have you ever been hit by a 20kg frisbee coming down!

Buy a round piece of mirrored glass and the flange can be the frame - treat your wife to a industrial piece of home furnishing.

Suspend it from the kitchen ceiling using 3-4 wires so that it hangs flat. Put hooks in the holes and hang pots and pans from it. You'll be the envy of all your friends.

50cm ID -(Very roughly 5 Krabs wide at 10cm a krab??) Probably would be a person sized entrance hatch, but quite snug and awkward with kit and rope.

Weight training? (particularly good for climbing / pullups etc)

Diggers minimum passage size guide?

Multi-team Tug-Of-War anchor?

No, but have you seen the size of the dog you need to own to jump up and catch it?

Get the camera ready, put some LED lights on it and use it as a frisbee to fake UFO sightings.
Nah, Pepper's ghost is the way to go for that. See pic below of the Alien Invasion Armada over Birkenhead last Sunday morning
