it's all gone quiet again

£40 %$**"£~~# flip me! I'll assume, because you're not a daft bloke that sponshorship etc has been looked into? Similar to ukclimbing. And no doubt this doesn't include man hours.

No, I'm not interested in sponsorship or advertising - I think it spoils the independence of a site. I'd rather this place stayed free from anything like that.

ukclimbing is a commercial venture - the forums exist to bring as many people into their shopfront as possible, and though busy, isn't a very good forum or friendly place to hang out imho.

That said, I do need to sort something out - ukbouldering.com will probably have some t-shirts made when I get the time and energy to do it.

T shirts are definitely a good idea. How about a social and raffle with proceeds going to the site? Could this be electronic perhaps so it doesn't become a geographical issue? Tell me to shut up if I'm telling you how to suck eggs.

Stu,

Surely you'll have plenty of time to organise things for the next few weeks? I hope you're feeling better soon.

Why do the "all gone quiet" threads disolve into BBS/techno threads?

Haha!!

Seriously, if there is anything that can be of help to bubba which can be done with an internet connection and a phone I'd certainly offer.

Techno threads!! Should I not ask what is the best broadband package around then?!!! :)

Thanks for the advice everyone - I'll probably do some tees this year, and will try to come up for some caving designs....

:tumble: So just `cos Bubba's away on hols doesn't necessarily mean that this place has to go quiet too. What's been going on?

Is anyone else going to the British Cave Rescue Council event on Mendip this coming weekend?....

I have been so busy at work the last month or so that i have not had much energy to switch my machine on :(

And i went caving yesterday for the first time in 5 weeks and my legs hurt so much now.

I happen to be in France this coming weekend, but i did want to attend the rescue council event, never mind theres always Hidden Earth in September.

Stu.

I've just come back from a week down in south wales!!
Did OFD through trip again and spent another 4 times exploring OFD Top, have sussed out a lot of it. Finally it all makes sense. Me happy.
Nearly got down to Bhowani Junction and another time to Northern Lights. After speaking to Brian from SWCC we all agreed that the OFD survey is missing many many passages. Oh well, keeps it all interesting !!!

Most of all I enjoyed my 2nd SRT trip. Rigged and derigged half of Pwff Dwfn... what a great experience. Can't wait to go to Yorkshire now!

Pwff Dwfn

How on earth do you pronounce that??!!! Is it Welsh or is it made up?

It's made up if you ask me... there isn't a vowel in either word. Most words are made up of Consonant-Vowel-Consonant.

Better Dead Than Welsh as one piece of cave in Yorkshire indicates.... but I have met quite a few nice fellows from Wales who spoke English.

Ah - thanks! "Pooth Dwoofen" apparently. (Pause for all the shocked sounds from the Welsh speakers at this mangling of their language)

Cumbrian Neil - w and y are both vowels in Welsh

but even English has nymphs and rhythms - great 'hangman' stand-byes.
And we have a 9 letter word with only one vowel - strengths.

When I saw that Cap 'n Chris had added a reply to the topic "it's all gone quiet again" I thought that he must be referring to the end of Glastonbury. I'm usually down at the Cerberus cottage the same weekend as the festival is on, and even over on that side of Mendip you can still hear the thump-thump-thump!
I hope the soap-dodgers down there have to take a bath after all that mud - just like our wives/girlfriends/loved-ones make us after we have been rolling about in mud

And we have a 9 letter word with only one vowel - strengths.
How about strengthlessness? (the longest English word with only one of the vowels in it?)
