Meander cuffs

The velcro has come off the tabs used for sealing the cuffs on my meander oversuit. It did this in otter hole so I got about 10L of liquid mud up my arm.  ;)
I want to repair it but I am crap at sewing.
Has anyone tried glueing the velcro back on? Did it work? Any tips on repairing the cuffs?

Cheers

try seam sealant as a glue and stitch as well - no need to be good at it just a needle, thread and thimble - up and down round the perimeter, dob some seam sealant over your stitch and I reckon you'll have a job better than the original. I've fixed a few tackle bags like that and the repair was the last thing to be left whilst the bag disintegrated around it over time.

Alternatively try neoprene cuffs. When surveyed 8/10 cats preferred them to velcro!

Used both SeamGrip and the the stuff that comes with the Meander suits to stick the velcro back on. Both methods have survived over a year without needing any more fixing. SeamGrip takes forever to go off but sticks like hell.
Just make sure the suit is as clean as possible.

I've never had the velcro come completely off a meander. Usually one side (the outer edge) is still attached. If you wrap the strap around the other way then it will still stick down. The thread on the one remaining edge is also protected like this. The same thing has happened on all meander suits i have had. The rest of the suit has always become unrepairable before the velcro on the sleeves comes completely off.

Usual thing with glueing, of course - bit of light sandpaper and white spirit to clean it up first will make a much better job.

Nothing wrong with neoprene cuffs, of course, add big gauntlets and you're fairly well sealed in.

Thanks for the helpful replies (you know who you are). I will try using the glue from the patch kit.

I wasnt sure about neoprene cuffs, do they make it more of a faff to get your gloves on and off?

In short no. I swear by them and they also keep your wrists warm (which given the number of veins close to the surface in your wrist) ultimately means your hands as well. The next part is down to whether you prefer regular short gloves which would go under the sleeve of your oversuit or as Tony says gauntlets which I can't comment on as I've never used. Either way cuffs remove the need for velcro tabs on your oversuit.
