Defo on Mendip and in Mendip Underground, and there is a gate (well technically a couple), just not in the direction the photo was taken.

Hi,
No, not Swildon's (so not a quadruple bluff  :) ) or Priddy at all, and not Welsh's green or that area.  It's a walk in one.

Presumably somewhere in Cheddar Gorge? But there are so many on the MCRA that I wouldn't know where to start...

(or Wookey, since they age cheese there as well)

Cheddar is right area, can park in a lay-by and stroll up there, access is relatively easy.  Sorry it's not Aveline's.  There is a sort of archaeological connection between what was found in Aveline's and what was found here...

I'll give you that - it's actually Bone Hole, though.  Photo taken looking directly skywards near the 2nd gate that will take you to Skull Slope where all the bones were. Gives a bit of a different perspective.  Horizontally from that point one way takes you out via the 1st iron gate in a narrow canyon type passage, the other way to a larger chamber and the recent MCG digs.
