Following shoulder surgery and a upcoming long period of healing, 9 months plus, I am looking for suggestions for some easy trips,Yorkshire area,to help keep me sane

They need to not have the following

Pitches
climbs, other than very easy very short ones
Not too much crawling
Not too many tight bits

To give you all a head start, I think the following may be suitable, although some are rather short trips
Crackpot
Great Douke ( climb in just about OK I think)
Cliff Force
Short Drop
Valley entrance
Smeltmill Beck
Gods Bridge River Cave
Nenthead Mines
Rowten Cave
Roger Kirk
GG winch meet!
Yordas cave!

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated

For info, you can bypass this by walking up a slope on the right and then crawling (not too bad) along a ledge.

As for other suggestions, I guess you know about these but ...

Heron (to pitches)
Browgill
Old Ing
Dow Cave
Long Churn
Wilsons

Hope you recover quickly!

You can avoid the climb up the waterfall by going along the  edge on the right of the entrance - there's about 6ft at most where you have to go on hands and knees because of the overhang.

Borrins Moor - go in until it gets wet and then come out again. There's a whole interesting area if you turn R at the pool, but it's a bit crawly.
Gatekirk
Bruntscar
Skirwith
Katnot

That doesn't work, though, 'cos he'd have to get in the cave first!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, a few I`d forgotten but also a few I am not familiar with.

I like the idea of being rescued in and out of a cave, lazy mans caving at its best, thats even better than getting your fellow caver's to carry the heavy tackle bags!!! how do I volunteer

A couple of replies mentioned Dow cave, feel I should know but cant find where it`s located??

Cheers :coffee:(arm chair caver for a few more weeks)

Just over a mile from Kettlewell (along the minor road to Coverdale) is Park Rash, its a short stroll from there, half mile at most..

You didn't by any chance suffer from regular and increasingly more easy dislocations of the shoulder - requiring surgery to fix the ligaments did you?
If so I would like to have a private chat with you about this as I am looking at the inevitability of similar surgery in the near future.

sadly it might be time to take up birdwatching for 9 months

I know its hard not to do something , i'm also a climber and i've ripped tendons and stuff before that i could have climbed on, but after 2 sessions i would have done so much more damage. I had to take the long term view and stop for a few months so that i could climb in the years to come

How about acting as lookout for your mates' cars when they go underground? That way you still get to socialise, and sort of join in the fun, and also get to go out to nice places to do your bird-watching. They might even buy the odd pint for you. Your mates that is, not the birds.

If you do feel like doing something relatively sedentary like birdwatching, let me know where you are and I'll tell you what's about and where your best birding locations are.

Malham Tarn's sometimes productive - you might see a passing osprey if you're lucky, also various grebes and a few rarer gulls.  There's a Merlin on Ilkley Moor today and waxwings were seen in Knaresborough this morning.

And in April last year a dotterell appeared briefly on Penyghent - it might come back this year.

If the Eagle owls haven't eaten them

Yes indeed that`s been the problem and the reason for the surgery. I have sent you a message with the details etc, not wishing to turn this into a medical advice page
