NAMHO CONFERENCE 2024

We're overdue another NAMHO in the Peak but with the best will in the world, I don't think PDMHS will be a position to organise one until we're done with moving the Mining Museum to Wirksworth, or at least far enough along to be able to start looking at other major projects. However, the new museum building (when built) will be an excellent venue for a conference.

What's the plan for underground visits? In 2020 we planned to do the underground trips in the Tamar Valley. Whilst I agreed to run this side of the conference I didn't think that having the conference based in two centres 60 miles apart was a particularly great idea.

We agree about the distances apart - too far. NAMHO has a strong policy that underground trips must be arranged with appropriate permissions. This will obviously reduce the number of ug trips in Cornwall. I am aware that there are many possibilities of ug trips to places that we do not name , but we need to protect these sites from accidental publicity.
