These are great, cut the fingers off and you have a really warm tough caving glove with a really grippy palm, ideal for wet caves.

Cheepest i have found is £8

Sorry this is a bit of a hijack. One of the big Sunday car boot sales (near Aston - Sheffield ut will find out for definite if anybody is interested) sells cotton and nitrile gloves £1 a pair or 10 gloves for £8. The same sort you get at any number of cave shops.

my favourite atm are the knitted kevlar, latex coated palms.
also available from caving shops or any decent safety shop

Don't bother cutting the fingers off, just take them caving a few times.
I think neoprene gloves are great - I have been using them for about a year and wet crawls are so much more pleasant

Sam, they are made for sea angling by a company called Ron Thompson,
i have found them for £7.95 at www.gerrysfishing.com

&

http://www.sportfish.co.uk/acatalog/Gloves05.html - £8.95

The ones below are also great for longer Sumps and really really really wet caves that are very very very cold!!!!!

http://www.nwac.co.uk/acatalog/Ron_Thompson_Clothing.html - £7.50

Personally i really rate neoprene gloves, cotton ones are good for dry caves, but when you are in constant water and everything you touch is wet and cold they are certainly the way forward.

Some types of divers gloves wear out VERY quickly in caves `cos the thread gets worn down by the abrasion from the limestone and then they unravel at the fingers. Mind you, if someone you know is cutting the fingers off their gloves you could try and negotiate with them and stick them on your knackered gloves with araldite, or somesuch.

Just an idea. Ok, just a silly idea.
