Both.

This was previously a flat out crawl for about 7m until you couldn't gt any further...

This is part of the ~50m of new stuff found in December...

They are basically the same passage, just split by a short sump (which won't be there for much longer...)

It looks like a lot of sediment has been removed to make the flat out crawl into that large dimensioned passage; what are the repercussions of washing that amount of sediment further down the passage? Surely it is moving the problem rather than removing it?

Good work though chaps, why dig it yourself when water can do it for you!

It's a fair question...

Nothing is yet known downstream until P8 (a long way away), so whilst it could be creating problems inbetween, i don't think it's enough of a worry to stop us finding what we can for now.

To assist the situation, the plug is not 100% effective, therefore meaning that it only overflows in moderately high water conditions. This should help to keep the material mobile and let it get deposited in the North Sea.  (y)  :-\

It starts at the question mark to the left of "aven" and soon connects to the end of Nun's Chuff. It then continues in that direction kind of under Route 68 (i guess, as niether Nun's Chuff nor the new stuff have been surveyed yet...)

How inconsiderate quite a few of us had written our names in that silt bank

Is it the sump at the end of south east passage that has opened (to the right before you climb up into the muddy duck with the brick dam)?
Or do you still go through the muddy duck towards the new stuff?

There is a lot of water going into Gautries today, it will be interesting to see what has changed tomorrow when the plug is pulled.

Plug sump has now opened, so no need for anyone to ever do Nun's Chuff again to reach the new stuff.... Yey..... Survey today showing 76m of new passage so far this year  :)

PS, entrance sumped again, so take diving gear if you wanna have a look at any of it!

Was down a moderately damp P8 earlier, and had a look at sump C and D - no sign of mud being washed through.
Good effort in Gautries!
