Obtaining Surveys

For those of you who just want people to have free access to your surveys, I am willing, as a philanthropic guesture, to create an area of my site where you can place them.
For copyright tracing purposes I would have to insist on a link to the publishing club (or permanent email address) and that I am informed if they change.

The reasons my site does not at the moment just link to peoples surveys on the web are two-fold:
Firstly, as with many, many people I don't know where the surveys are.
Secondly, links are not hugely reliable as servers and pages are often changed which breaks the link!

If people want a centralised place to store their surveys, then ask and I'll provide it.

If I want to publish something in PDF format I can happily do this myself. That's the whole thing with "self-publishing" on the internet. If I want to take payment I can channel it through Ebay and that takes care of stuff like credit cards and keeping records. A lot of people already do this for more specialist documents, for example music arrangements. Basically I can't see much room for a middle man.

Well, that is the situation at the moment. But it's not ideal having to search a dozen websites to find a survey with no idea if it is available, or even exists.

On a personal level virtually everything that I have surveyed is freely available, either on the web or through a caving journal or magazine with general circulation.

Fair enough, but the vast majority of surveys aren't available on the web and hunting down back issues of caving magazines is much less convenient than going to a website.

If anyone does have the copyright to a survey or surveys and would be interested in this scheme please email me -- rls -(at)- hwyl.org
