I could not help overhearing a group of obvious non-cavers in a pub today talking about Peak Cavern. "They have orgies down there you know" said one and the others said they'd heard that too.
I've lost count of the times I've heard noncavers say about orgies in caves - and its always Derbyshire caves for some reason.
Caves must be about the last place you'd have an orgy and you wonder who starts this crap.
Has anyone else heard these tales? Or even better can anyone say if they are true?

Turned up at Hillocks one Sunday morning a few years back and they were just clearing up from a illegal rave that had taken place in the chambers just beyond the oil drum entrance!

Generator in field supplying electric to the decks/amps/speakers/lights.
DJ was still packing his records away.

Beer cans etc. everywhere but were cleared up well by the organisers

Not sure if this counts as an orgy though!

Actually - if anyone does fancy an orgy I can recommend Alderley Edge Mines - warm, dry, and sandy. We used to hold Christmas Parties in Wood Mine - with disco, Christmas tree with flashing lights, fairy lights along the adit etc. etc. - you get the drift. Take a tent to keep the sand out of ..erm... cracks and away you go.

DCC also used to do a good line in Birthday Parties too. I led a 40th for the local shampoo drinking toffs - it was top-hole. One pair were sweating cobs in West Mine but when we stopped at the Sphinx they nipped round the corner, took off their oversuits, and emerged in full evening dress - white tie and tails for him and Dior gown for her. The indoor fireworks were great - except it got so smokey it was hard to breathe!!!
