OU mapping geology at Chapel-le-Dale and on Mendip

Looks like they cleverly managed to shift the Watlowes valley and Malham Cove into Chapel-le-Dale, briefly, near the beginning of that film (at 1:42).

I didn't really learn anything I'm not already aware of (as it's fairly local to me) but I thought the explanation, for unfamiliar students, was first class. Thanks for uploading this.

They weren't attempting to teach students the geology of an area, but the general principles of geological mapping of an area by observation of the landscape.

Indeed - but the second sentence tells us: "We're going to concentrate on the area around the village of Ingleton.".

Yes, then it jumps to a different part of the Dales.

Apologies, I was commenting on that part of your post which implied that the video was trying to teach students about the geology of a specific area: "I didn't really learn anything I'm not already aware of (as it's fairly local to me) but I thought the explanation, for unfamiliar students, was first class." I was pointing out that was not the intention of the video.

Yep; understood - and to be honest I think the film makes an excellent job of introducing geological mapping, which many cavers would find valuable.
