P7

Dan and I had a look at P7 last night.

The entrance shaft has moved a fair bit - there's loose stuff around but the scaff is holding up pretty well.

Climbed down the White Room and checked out the sunps. There was flood debris up to around the base of the shuttering in the White Room (may 5-6m above normal sump level) which had clearly not flowed down the White Room. The "upstream" sump had hardly dropped (maybe 3-4" down?) whilst the downstream sump was cobble-choked and not enterable. There was no significant draught.

It would be interesting to know what the upstream/downstream sumps in P8 are like at the moment/have been like recently to see whether there is any link in levels.

P8 from Monday.
Upstream sumps - very low in CII and I think BII (the ones you pass on the round trip). Jen, Cave_Troll and I dropped
the pitch at the end of CII (previously descended in ?1987 - write-up in Descent 90 and 91) to the water level, maybe
10-12m lower than normal. What I think is BII was dry as far down as we went, but didn't push it to a conclusion.
Sump D was not evident below the pot that you come to immediately, but we didn't descend this.
Downstream sump down about 2 m, but not unroofed yet. Very very little water running in entrance, and minimal-no
flow in T'Owd Mans rift.

That sounds quite dry! Useful report and good comparison. Sadness - it appears P7 is in fact a road to big fat nowhere.
