Parc Mine - red rope

Guilty as charged. We tried to divert the water into drainpipes to make it more comfortable when we first dropped the shaft. There was a lot of debris to clear so it took a few visits. At the time, we had no idea we were going to drop into Parc 3 so it was rather a surprise when Simon and I found ourselves in that familiar level. Also rather relief that we wouldn't have to prussic back up but could scoot around the usual route instead.

Nice to hear others have found that shaft. It'd be a nice backup if Fucheslas ever gets blocked.
Top work 👏. I found your rope. A good while back. Between 2 trips only a few weeks apart.. i found it from level 3. N i stupidity prusiked up it without seeing anchor etc. I went up a few feet n bounced around n it didn't come down. So i proceeded up. . Seeing it was proper rope and that it hadn't been up long. I assumed nobody is going to put this in without bring properly bolted or tied to something secure 🤔 at the top. I was relieved to see fresh bolts n mat to prevent rope rub. . Followed the passage both ways n came outside. To see where i was. . Then back in n down. . Nice little addition to my day. Again top work n well appreciated 💯

Whilst I can’t claim the initial bolting, we rediscovered this and installed the red rope along with protective mats earlier this year. Glad to see it’s being used!

Did you exit that way on your trip when you went in Endeans from surface?

Endeans being the main adit on Parc 2? Names are escaping me at the moment.

But yes we exited this way on our last trip. Approx a 30m pitch, and it means you don’t have to wade through any water

Endeans is the shaft from surface that takes you through Llanrwst mine into Parc level 2 via the angle-bob and crab winch.

Ah yes that was our trip, a throughly muddy place! Was nice to make 2 extensions to the “normal” through trip

What's the status of the Outdoor Bound Centre with regards to just having a look round or actually gaining access?
Public footpath that goes through the grounds passes right past the capped shaft, there is no access agreement and the shaft is once more locked

We did a bit of exploring in Parc yesterday and found a red rope hanging down from a wet shaft.

There was a note at the bottom saying 'No red one' or 'No redone' signed Nige.

Who is Nige? And were does the rope go?

Chris.
The in situ rope and mat protector is mine no idea who has put their sign on it.
I found the level above Kneebone's and dropped down the shaft as i had seen it had already been bolted and realised it dropped down to level 3, seeing as this was a reccy for our c9c club meet i decided to leave the rope in situ as an alternative way out/ more to explore for the club trip and for anyone else in the future.

Good to see its been discovered and used by others.

Ye it offers a dryer option for the trip itself. I am definitely not the most experienced with ropes many more on here who will be of much higher knowledge to emphasise on- i be very cautious how long it’s left there in the winter months it’s very wet with a very active air flow I am sure this will reduce the ropes life, with it being a large pitch wouldn’t want to see a accident.
