Petzl Ultra - any light builders/fixers want to have a look?

I've got a Petzl Ultra here (one of the original sort) that seems to have a problem with the switch. I take the battery off, put it on charge and when the battery's fully charged replace the battery. Switch it on and nothing happens. On two occasions I've left the battery connected for a while (say a couple of hours), tried it again and it's then worked fine. In fact it works perfectly when it decides to work but it's not doing anything at all this afternoon. I've tried it with two different batteries and I know they're OK.

Has anyone had any success taking a Petzl Ultra apart? Seems a shame to just get rid when the LEDs are obviously working OK. If any of the people on here who make lights are familiar with the insides of an Ultra and fancy having a look I'd happily post it to you and make a reasonable contribution if you can fix it. Send me a PM if interested.

Cheers,

Jules.

taken it back to supplier ?

Ey up Cave Troll. I'd assumed it would be well out of warranty but a friend pointed out that Lyon/Petzl are helpful with warranty so I'll give that route a try.

Cheers,

Jules.

Hi Jules, I should be seeing you Sunday?? If you want I could take a look at your lamp, I build my own (the only home build with optical-light feedback as far as I am aware) so consider myself qualified to give you an idea on what is going on. Of course I would always advise anyone to follow the warranty route if they can, so try that first!

Hi Olly,

Thanks for offer to have a look at it. Got very prompt email back from Lyon today so I'll try that route and have a word with you about it if that doesn't come to anything.

Yep - I'll see you Sunday for more fun-and-games!

Jules.
