    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Pioneers Beneath the Peak: Cave diving exploration in the Peak District

I am pleased to announce that my book on the history of cave diving in the Peak District is now complete and at the printers. The book is titled Pioneers Beneath the Peak and is published by Wild Places Publishing. The official publication date is 16 September, to coincide with a launch at the Hidden Earth caving conference, but we hope to have copies available ahead of that date. The book is available with a laminated card cover or as a limited edition hardback. Copies can be pre-ordered from the publisher and will be despatched, post-free, as soon as they are available. Alternatively, if you are going to be seeing me soon you can obtain a copy direct from me. All author's royalties from the sale of the book are being donated to the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation.
pm me if you need any further information.

Mine today - only had time for a quick skim-through so far, but it looks fabulous. I'm working away next week, so this will be perfect for evenings in the digs.

Got mine in the post yesterday (after the recommendation during the Derbyshire comittee meeting). Not yet had a proper read, but a quick scan through tells me it'll be a good read!

For anyone who is interested, I shall be giving an illustrated talk on the history of cave diving in the Peak District as part of the Ashbourne Festival on Tuesday 25 June 2024. The event is a double bill, which I shall be sharing with a couple who circumnavigated the globe on a tandem, and is entitled "Around and Down". My part will be similar to the presentation given at Outside, Hathersage back in February and once again I will be passing any monies received for the talk to Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation.
A link to the event with details of time, venue and how to purchase tickets, is given below:

It would be great to see some of you there.
