Pioneers Beneath the Peak: Cave diving exploration in the Peak District

I am pleased to announce that my book on the history of cave diving in the Peak District is now complete and at the printers. The book is titled Pioneers Beneath the Peak and is published by Wild Places Publishing. The official publication date is 16 September, to coincide with a launch at the Hidden Earth caving conference, but we hope to have copies available ahead of that date. The book is available with a laminated card cover or as a limited edition hardback. Copies can be pre-ordered from the publisher and will be despatched, post-free, as soon as they are available. Alternatively, if you are going to be seeing me soon you can obtain a copy direct from me. All author's royalties from the sale of the book are being donated to the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation.

Got this for Christmas and I am engrossed! An excellent read. I recognise many of the names from drinking in The Stags back in the late 70s. Having peered at a few of the muddy sumps I remain in awe of how you divers do it.

The vintage photos from the 1940s and 50s are just fabulous - I hadn't seen most of these before, and the quality of the photographs, particularly the lighting, is stunning.
