The question of renaming the Yorkshire section has been raised before. Unfortunately it was kept as it was!
I agree  with Andys, it would be best renamed.

Moderators have no control over the naming and structure of Forum sections, only over actual postings. Maybe Pegasus/Badlad might see if this can be done?

but it really struck home with the recent posts re Underground in Furness. Furness was historically part of Lancashire and is currently in Cumbria so nothing to do with Yorkshire per se at all. And likewise the Three Counties system is what is says on the tin!

So how about renaming it "The Dales"
Furness isn't in the Dales.

There is a minor areas area which would seem better suited?

Northern England (i.e. Lancashire, East Lancashire and some other places) would seem to cover it better?

Unfortunately it would relegate Derbyshire to the Midlands - not sure how popular that would be?

The Yorkshire section is already subtitled "The Dales" which implies that it covers a slightly wider area - such as The Three Counties System. Furness would seem to be stretching that definition though.

Similarly, the Derbyshire section is subtitled "Peak District & Derbyshire" to bring in other neighbouring bits of Staffordshire etc.

I believe the site owners are planning a bit of re-structuring. No doubt they can consider these naming issues when doing so.

Given there's a New South Wales (And a New North Wales in Canada) surely the precedence is New East Wales?  :tease:

(And that's renaming England btw)

A looooong day to day and just read the above - of course we will consider renaming the 'Yorkshire' section - don't know to what yet, however it's on the list!

...and as for renaming Wales - no, absolutely not  :spank: - I was brought up in North Wales and fab it was too, Wales stays as Wales!  ;)
