Yes; yes, it is. Apparently this is because there are so many links to external sites - it's all getting a bit over-bloated and cumbersome.

Sometimes the site struggles due to just getting overloaded.

Since i upgraded the server there have been many connection problems flagging up. I need to read up on tweaking mysql again...

Ukcaving has become way more popular over the last year and ukbouldering keeps growing too. They are starting to need some serious performance tweaking and I'm dragging my heels as usual :)

Tonights crash highlighted an unseen problem - hopefully things will work a bit smoother from now on...

Sorry about last night's crash - it was caused by a problem regarding running SMF forums on an Ubuntu host.

What was happening was that due to the way Ubuntu handles php sessions by default, old sessions were not being deleted from the sessions tables and they just grew and grew from the time the server was upgraded a while back.

Across ukb/ukc there was something like a million records in the sessions tables - understandably this had a big impact on performance...but this should be fixed now.
