Born in Brussels, Belgium, Sténuit loved to explore caves. By age 20 he was itching to explore flooded caves too, so he learned scuba diving.

Thanks for posting that; really interesting. My memory is that he had considerable involvement in cave diving but the article doesn't amplify on that, other than the image caption.
