Mary Wilde just told me. This is sad. Another bit of Derbyshire caving history gone. At least he went out quickly in a great place surrounded by caving mates.

Hi all,

Wendy here.

It's been a tough week but, been sorting Keith's funeral arrangements with the girls.

The Service will be held at Brimmington Crematorium, Chesterfield on May the 1st at 3.45 pm

No flowers thank you, but donations to DCRO welcome.

Casual dress would be good with a splash of colour please.

There will be a wake afterwards in the Hope Valley.

Thanks for that Wendy, see you there, what was the P.M. verdict?

(Still can't get my head round this one)

Hi Bograt,

Was just wondering if you would like to write a Eulogy for Keith about all the fun times you had with

him. If so would you be able to read it out at the Funeral?

There will be no Hymns or prayers as Keith was not a religious person.

If any one else would also like to say something that's fine ( the funnier the better) but please get in

touch first, as we need to write it into the service.

This is very sad news.

I met Keith through DCRO and was always amazed at his ability as a DCRO controller to avoid ever having to be 'in control' in the van and disappearing underground to lead from the front at the first instance.  Later on I remember challenging Keith as to which one of us could get underground first on rescues and practices which is a game I always lost.

Recently I started digging with Keith in Giant's Hole and was always impressed by his ability to show complete indifference to all the other boulders in the choke whilst poking the biggest, scariest looking one.  His enthusiasm for trying to find new passage and his ability to talk a good 'scaffolding' and then carry on without it will be happy memories of Keith.

Keith was someone I knew I could rely on 100% underground whether that was poking boulder chokes or with DCRO.  He managed to do this whilst being a genuinely nice bloke and always having something good to say or a tale of boulders dodged.

Hi Biffa,

You obviously knew Keith very well from reading your post...... Would you be able to stand up at the

funeral and talk of your caving antics with Keith?

I'm so sad to hear this news about Kieth, he was such a great character and true gentleman, and he will be missed by so many people who had the pleasure of knowing him. My thoughts go out to his family, god bless him, such a wonderful chap

For those that weren't there, a classic send off for Keith, a shout for DCRO in the middle of the wake, I'm sure he engineered it from "The other side"  (you ain't having a session without me :))

Superb send off ceremony for the speliograndad, thanks to all, I've heard of wicker boxes, first time I've experienced one, well done Wendy & Family. I hope I was not too incoherent in my recital,  (Them as knows me, knows me, them as don't, don't matter)

Thanks to Wendy and the girls, Proper Do.  (y) (y) (y)

Great send off for Keith, a proper celebration of who he was.  I reckon he would have appreciated the call out half way through his wake!

I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow managed to arrange it!

Am so sorry that i couldnt attend Keiths funeral, i was on expedition and i know he wouldnt have wanted me to miss that, a shout during the wake is a classic send off to a bloke that lived and breathed caving and cave rescue, i trust that  the rescue was as slick and smooth as i would have been if Keith had been there
