POSITION: Senior Hydrogeologist REPORTING SUPERVISOR: Hydrogeology Supervisor - TEAM: Aquifer Management PROGRAM: Aquifer Science

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $52,062.89

BASIC FUNCTION: Directs and performs data collection and evaluation activities to carry out the mission of the Edwards Aquifer Authority.

DESCRIPTION: Conducts and coordinates the collection and analysis of geologic and hydrologic data, including activities in support of the Aquifer Science Research Program; serves as project manager for various research projects including the Authority?s tracer testing activities; provides the general public with technical presentations regarding the Authority?s mission and activities as requested; prepares technical reports; collects and analyzes water quality,quantity, and tracer test data;; contributes to the Authority?s annual planning and budgeting process; coordinates work of othe rhydrogeologists and water resource technicians; and performs other duties as assigned by the Hydrogeology Supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor?s degree in geology, hydrology, engineering, or a closely related field; plus five years of relevant experience; Master?s degree preferred; a Master?s degree may be substituted for one year of experience; demonstrated knowledge of geology and hydrogeology procedures and practices especially related to karst aquifers; ability to explain complex technical aspects of various studies innon-technical terms to the public; strong research and analyticalskills; experience performing tracer testing in karst environmentspreferred; experience operating laboratory dye analysis instruments preferred; effective oral, written, time management and organizational skills; ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and responsibility; valid driver's license; and ability to operate a motorvehicle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job performance may require: frequent lifting and carrying of heavy items and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; moderate to heavy wanking in rough terrain requiring a high level of physical exertion. Job performance requires some irregular hours and long work days occasionally amounting to as much as 50 hours in one work week and low levels of stress. Job performance requires extensive outside work with exposure to extremes in weather including heat and cold and extensive exposure to rough terrain such as brush, rocks, and hills. Job performance may also include exposure to hazards such as chemicals, insects, and snakes. Performance may also include work around construction, well drilling or other similar work sites.
