Short Spanners

Maybe a bit of a silly request but I'm after a nice compact spanner for tightening the bolts when using spits. I've looked on eBay and they all look huge! It's been suggested that I saw it down or even put it in a vice and hit with a big hammer, but that still leaves the issue of drilling the holes to mount it on cord and frankly and more elegant solution would be much preferred.

Ta!

slightly different option - Britool do an open ender spanner 13mm one end and 17mm the other - which is the D maillon size.

Otherwise get a 13mm combi and grind it in 2 with an angle grinder and smooth off sharp bits

I'd recommend cobalt drill bits and some cutting paste if you want to drill holes in your spanners.

I made some 'baby cowstails' from 4mm cord and equipment krabs, tied tight loops onto my spanner shanks, and then just clip them on and let them dangle around until needed. You do sound a bit like the Saucepan Man jingling about, but I haven't dropped any yet.

I prefer thin bungy to a snoopy loop on my arm for my spanner - less cord to get tangled in stuff (and the exciting game of "let go of my spanner at arm's reach and see where it will hit me!")
