Slaughter Stream Cave now re-opened

I am pleased to report that conservation work in Slaughter Stream Cave (Wet Sink) has now been largely completed.
The cave is now open for visiting parties.
The cave has been fitted with a new lock. The keys cost £25 each so we will ask for a returnable deposit as their number is limited and we cannot afford to keep replacing them.
The gate has always been a requirement for access as the cave is next to a popular national trail. As the initial drops are rigged with fixed ladders, it is all too easy for passers by to enter and then fall down the next pitch!
Please contact Paul Baverstock at permits@fodccag.org.uk.
We hope to get an on-line booking system up and running soon, not only for Wet Sink, but also other caves under the Forestry Access agreement including Miss Grace's Lane, CabSav, etc.
Note that Big Sink and Redhouse Lane are currently not open as the entrances are unstable and need further work. They are also inaccessible for most of autumn, winter, spring due to flooding.
I attach an Information Sheet that contains a route description for the Long Round Trip in SSC with details on parking, rigging, fixed aids, etc.

Well done to all involved in both the digging and conservation work!

Having helped out at the 'easy' side of the dig a couple of times, it's clear just how much work went into it, but what a great trip this makes!
