Sludge Pit Hole access at risk

I'd presumed the comment about SRT was a nudge-nudge-wink-wink about Mendip's entrenched use of prehistoric ladders. When SPH was bolted around the time the access was re-established and the gate was installed, we placed the anchors specifically for SRT (and L&L). Whether or not people have the rigging skillage is up to them. Obv.. Tis a freeclimb for some people though; like Swildon's Twenty & Forty and TLS Perseverance, MFS (all pitches) etc..

The climb is quite doable. Even I managed to do it last week (not confident on exposed climbs) I did make sure I was attached to the rope we had rigged with a hand jammer though.
Ladder I think would be very awkward, even SRT isn't easy going up due to bumping into the ledges.

You could jump down of course. Then the MCR could organize a real rescue. They'd get you out in a jiffy - they had a practice there last week!

It was actually because the access description was fairly prescriptive in that ladders required a lifeline and I wanted to check so access wasn't jeopardised.

All ladders require a lifeline if you wish to be insured.

It's third party liability insurance so negligence is practically a requirement for the insurance to pay out, I doubt climbing a ladder unlifelined crosses the barrier into behaviour that's so reckless the insurance doesn't apply, and isn't one of the only claims on the old old insurance from a club member climbing a ladder unlifelined and then falling off onto a novice somewhere in the Mendips?
The insurance is pretty good at being general; for example, I believe all cavers are insured when installing any kind of anchors anywhere provided they aren't deliberately reckless (i.e. just being an idiot should be covered).
